it's raining today in New York. soothing. healing. i really miss mom To all of the amazingly strong mothers who are consistently loving, supportive, and encouraging prayer warriors, counselors, mentors, and friends that will go above and beyond for their kids as their guiding light to help them reach their highest potential and be their best selves in this world, you are deeply and immensely loved!
To anyone who has lost their mother or is estranged from their mother or has lost their child, you are not alone today. I stand with you in pain and in truth. May you find strength in healing and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to get you through not only today but everyday. You are deeply and immensely loved! The picture above is my mom pregnant with me at her baby shower. Our relationship isn’t perfect, no mother-daughter relationship is, but through it all I thank you for making me the independent, resilient woman I am today. I’m so glad that we spoke earlier, and I pray that we both grow and heal as we continue to strengthen our bond. I love you mom! Always will! Happy Mother's Day!

Handwritten short review by legendary poet, writer, commentator, activist, and educator Nikki Giovanni for "Just My Thoughts: Mind, Body & Soul"
"It's not a #1 record but Just My Thoughts: Mind, Body & Soul catches the times of the heart and minds. Thank you so very much for sharing with me."
Poetically, Nikki Giovanni (excerpt) (side note: It's dated one day after my 22nd birthday! I cried and died when I saw that part!!) #Won'tHeDoIt! Yasss!!! Dear J.D. -
I'm delighted to grant permission. Good luck! Keep on keeping on. Poetically, Nikki Giovanni (her response to allow me to use her review for promotion) (side note: This is dated two days after her 67th birthday!) This is Nikki Giovanni's review for my still unreleased book of poetry, "R.I.S.E."
THIS is why I'm NOT stopping! Celebrated ICON, poet, memoirist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist Dr. Maya Angelou acknowledged receiving my book with this kind card!
