it's raining today
in New York. soothing. healing.
i really miss mom
To all of the amazingly strong mothers who are consistently loving, supportive, and encouraging prayer warriors, counselors, mentors, and friends that will go above and beyond for their kids as their guiding light to help them reach their highest potential and be their best selves in this world, you are deeply and immensely loved!
To anyone who has lost their mother or is estranged from their mother or has lost their child, you are not alone today. I stand with you in pain and in truth. May you find strength in healing and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to get you through not only today but everyday. You are deeply and immensely loved!
The picture above is my mom pregnant with me at her baby shower.
Our relationship isn’t perfect, no mother-daughter relationship is, but through it all I thank you for making me the independent, resilient woman I am today. I’m so glad that we spoke earlier, and I pray that we both grow and heal as we continue to strengthen our bond. I love you mom! Always will!
Happy Mother's Day!
hope and a future...
tried to let my pain find the bottom of the bottle
with every sip, frustration lingered
so i cut the phillie, the eagle followed
with every hit, my mind drifted
i hold the smoke
tryna get lifted, from places revisited
i don’t wanna go back
like i’ve been here before
to the future go back
now, the present is the past
and the past is but a moment
at the moment cloud 9 multiples me like a quotient
over the vicinity that residence me
village raising a child
streets raising me wild
like the belly of the beast
a hungry beauty never sleeps
and opposites attract ‘til my mission is complete
“that’s impossible” not the gospel my Lord and Savior preach
still “they” say it’s impossible for me to reach my peak
when the plan is set
my shoulders speak
that’s when my conscience goes
angel and demon meet
and i become weak
doubt takes over me
like faith took the back burner
where the kettle heats
and i’m riding through the city with a slow creep
body heats from the liquor
kinda dazed from the haze
that’s the mixture
start to see the full picture
for we walk by faith, not by sight
2 Corinthians 5:7 Bible scripture
hey, hey, hey
i know there’s more for me out there
settle for mediocrity detrimental to welfare
i got to live, my dreams will die if i stay here
and my abilities will be disabled, that’s unfair
all i have
is a dollar and a dream
faith, despite what i’ve seen
my thoughts transcribed on the screen
see, the struggle wanna keep pockets lean
for my goals, i’m a fiend so my hustle stays mean
anything worth having comes with sacrifice
having patience to wait, God’s plan
worth the price
long shot will come through in the end
so i’m throwing hail mary’s in the air
don’t talk yourself out what you believe
you have enough against you
don't be your own enemy
overthink, mind on infinity
baby, no, no hey
your steps already ordered
hope and a future is yours
you may not be where you want to be
you're where you should be
just wait on what the Lord has in store
wait on what the Lord has in store
i’ve come a long way
His favor, grace and mercy
brought me through it ALL
waiting for me to fall flat
give up and just quit
