ALL HAIL! The Laws is in the building! It's such a great feeling to go to any event on a Sunday night, hello #SundayFunday! It's even better when you're going to see your cousin perform at one of the most famous hotspots in Times Square, the iconic music venue, B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. Seeing your last name in lights in the "crossroads of the world" just does something to you... you know?
My sister and I were so excited about going, we did a whole photoshoot on the way to the show! We pre-gamed while listening to "Very Special" by Debra Laws, "Family" by Hubert and Debra Laws, and one of my favorite songs by Ronnie Laws, "Friends and Strangers". I was hoping he would perform that song, and I was so happy he did! Classic music never goes out of style! I still remember the first time seeing their vinyl records in my mom's massive collection of music and asking her were we related since we had the same last name. My mom said they are my dad's cousins, and she told me to go play their albums. We played each sibling after the next. I was hooked and instantly felt a visceral creative connection. Like poetry to jazz, it's in my blood. My sister and I always wanted to meet more of our dad's side of the family, and everything would come full circle this night!
