The Lost Boys

The producers spent some COIN on the massive production for The Lost Boys and it shows!
The stage design is definitely giving high budget. The set is three stories, there’s aerial choreography and of course vampires! The lighting and special effects are top tier. I can definitely see it winning Best Musical, and it’s easily top contender for Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design in a Musical.
The cast did a phenomenal job! Shoshana Bean and Maria Wirries know they can SANG! They leave it all on the stage.
Now, I do have notes. First, there was a 3 minute technical difficulty delay soon after Act II started. Not bad since the show is technically complex, and there are a lot of moving parts. I’ll give them grace since they’re still in previews. The musical opens April 26th, so they have time to iron that out.
Second, after curtain call there is a very brief scene that is completely unnecessary. The audience was already leaving and some rushed back to see what was happening. It caused a bit of confusion. I don’t even recall who spoke, but they said one or two sentences. Michael Arden, it wouldn’t take away from the musical if you cut that scene or add it before curtain call. I personally think post bow/post credit scenes work best for film (like Sinners) not Broadway.
Besides that, it’s a great show! Bravo to the entire cast and crew!

I think having a mezzanine seat is best for this show due to the set design, just like Hadestown!
