“All you do is go to Broadway shows.” Well yes…
I got a chance to see Giant, on Eid al-Fitr, starring two-time Tony award winner John Lithgow playing Roald Dahl, arguably one of the greatest storytellers for children’s books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda among others.
The play takes a journey back to 1983, and explores a recent controversial article Dahl wrote sharing his antisemitic views just as his next book The Witches is about to be released. He has to weigh his personal opinion about Jews and Israel’s bombing of Beirut against public perception and whether to issue an apology to save his legacy as an author and future book sales.
Some things never change… “Don't ever fix your lips like collagen/ And say something when you gon' end up apologing…”

The play is brilliant and the perspectives expressed mirror the current times. Bravo to the cast and crew!
