Dog Day Afternoon

Dog Day Afternoon was... interesting to watch. The star power is there. The set design is great. It feels like the 1970s with Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)" and "Trouble Man" playing, songs that weren't in the 1975 movie. But the movie is much better than the play. The play wasn't bad, but it wasn't #mustsee exceptional either. Following in the footsteps of Al Pacino's Sonny is a tall order... even 51 years later, and not every classic movie based on a true story translates well to Broadway.
Trust the mixed reviews on this one. However, if you're a fan of The Bear, it still makes for a delightful night out in the city.
